I cannot tell you how happy I am with my Asus UL50Ag A3B. Man, this thing is getting better and better as I learn more about it.
Help answer the question about Asus UL50Ag A3B 14 or 15.6 inch laptop?
I cannot decide whether I should get the asus ul50ag-a2 or the asus ul80vt-a1... the ul80vt comes with a 14 inch screen but has a dedicated nvidia graphics card, whereas the ul50ag has a 15.6 inch screen but only has intel integrated graphics...

I Asus UL50Ag A3B guess basically my question is what would be the best choice? I probably won't need the Nvidia chip as I won't be using it for gaming, but I will be using programs such as Auto CAD etc.

Overall good value laptop for the price – paid $750 including sales tax.
positive: super thin and light, large hard drive @500gb, bright LED widescreen, HDMI out at 1080 resolution, webcam which has face-recognition authentication, 10 key number pad, decent altec lansing speakers, stay cool keyboard, quiet fan, averaging 10+ hour battery life.
negative: windows 7 premium 64bit OS is a bit buggy with 32bit apps and device drivers , no built-in bluetooth, fingerprints left on black brushed aluminum case, maximum capacity of 4gb ram.
The laptop uses the su7300 Intel core 2 duo processors, which in my opinion is more than adequate for a poweruser. I can run adobe CS4 suite, MS Office, several different browsers and VMware workstation running 2 VMs (2003 server and Fedora Core11) all at the same time.
I was considering buying a Macbook pro laptop – but after seeing this at my local BB store, I bought it on impulse and am more than happy with this purchase. Best laptop I have ever bought, i’m official done with HP, Lenovo, and Acer brands.

I’m an MIS (Management Information Systems) student. I needed a laptop or netbook I could take with me to the labs that was capable of decently matching the power of a desktop system and that didn’t weigh 10+ pounds and break my student-sized budget. The ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201N met and far exceeded my needs and expectations.
The straight out of the box Windows Performance Rating and Information:
Base Score: 3.3
Processor: 3.3
Memory: 4.6 (2 GB)
Graphics: 4.2
Gaming Graphics: 5.2
Primary Hard Disk: 5.9
System type: 32-bit operating system
64-bit capable: Yes
Processor cores: 2
Graphics:
NVIDIA ION
Dedicated graphics memory: 256 MB
Dedicated system memory: 64 MB
Shared system memory: 575 MB
Total available graphics memory: 895 MB
Primary monitor resolution: 1366 x 768
Direct X version: DirectX 10
The hard drive is partitioned into two drives (100 GB and 123 GB). I actually prefer to install all of my software on one drive/partition and save all my work on another. So, I like the fact that this arrangement is already setup and running when the machine arrives. You also get a year of access to a 500 GB virtual drive. The virtual drive seems to work well, but, if I need more space, I’ll purchase an external drive so that access to my work doesn’t rely on an internet connection.
Without making any changes, I hooked up an external optical drive and installed Adobe Design Premium Creative Suite 4 and gave the system a workout by doing a homework assignment on it. I had Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Word 2007, Firefox, and Internet Explorer all running at the same time. It met my demands and far exceeded my expectations. Among other things, I have since added the standard Apache server (for PHP and mySQL development), Flex 3, and Microsoft Office Professional and SQL Server. This powerful little netbook does everything I ask it to do and seems ready for more. It’s a great system for designers, developers and business professionals.
As is standard with Atom processors, the processor is the bottleneck for the system performance. Except for about a 5-15% lag when doing intensive processing, I haven’t noticed a real performance dip when comparing this netbook to my desktop systems (Dell Inspiron and Dell XPS). Adding an extra 2 GB of RAM would improve the system performance and is something I plan to do very soon.
The touchpad is very responsive and, unlike many systems, it doesn’t pick up my wrist movement very often (I touch type). It also has a function switch to quickly turn off the touchpad when needed. The keyboard keys are well spaced and it took me very little effort to adjust to the layout. The lack of a number pad bothers me a bit, but it is understandably necessary on this size of a system.
I prefer matte screens and was a bit worried about the glossy screen giving me literal and physical headaches. The screen glare is minimal even when I have a lamp behind me or beside me. Glare might be a problem if I sat with my back to an open window with streaming sunlight pouring in. But, it handles standard room lighting well.
I haven’t tried any 3D games on it, so I can’t say how powerful it would be as a gaming machine. It works for standard casual games and should run most 3D games on lower settings. I feel more limited by the 12.1″ screen size than the processor and graphics card when it comes to gaming: I prefer games on a 20+ inch screen.
Cons: The transformer box on the power cable gets hot enough that it’s painful to touch. The power cord attachment is also a bit loose and has disconnected a few times when I moved the machine. The vent on the left also gets hot enough that it might be uncomfortable for a left-handed person to use an external mouse positioned near it. The sound from the speakers is a bit tinny, but fantastic through headphones. It needs a more powerful battery as I only get about 2 to 3.5 hours of battery life before it needs a charge.

I purchased the 80vt after carefully reading several reviews on it, with most of them being positive.
My take on the Asus 80vt-
Screen: 4/5 Very bright, pretty crisp.
Keyboard: 3/5 Good tactile feel, some flex if you type hard on it, very usable although the chicklet type of keys don’t stick up very much so it takes some getting used to from a regular type of keyboard.
Construction: 3/5 I’d say average. One thing which some users have noted is the flex in the screen/case. This is due to the design of Asus notebooks and the way the screen is hinged without rigid support, not so much being poorly constructed.
The battery life is incredibly long, I reached 10 hours over a 2 day period before needing a charge.
Battery: 5/5 Excellent battery life!
Appearance: 5/5 Nice looking design
Touch-pad: 1/5 Man o man,……when I read users’ complaints about the touch-pad, I could not imagine something so simple could be so much of a nightmare. I have never experienced a touch-pad so frustratingly bad. It is enough to make you want to take out a hammer and smash the whole computer. It is glossy plastic just like the hand rests but with tiny pin hole type of perforations. When trying to move the mouse across the screen, the touch-pad selects every link in its’ path. Changing the sensitivity settings did not seem to help. I tried for hours at a time to change the settings as suggested by other users to make it more functional but it remains the Achilles heel of this laptop. It is so bad it renders the laptop almost unusable without an external mouse. I would have gone the external mouse route but I plan to use it on the plane and with the limited space it wouldn’t be practical.
The computer is well worth the money, but I am returning it after a week of touch-pad hell. If I read that Asus changes the touch-pad or fixes this problem, I will purchase the 80vt or the 30vt in a heart beat.
To sum it up, it is a very good lightweight notebook with exceptional battery life, good speed and power, with the worst touch-pad on the planet. I’d highly recommend it if you can use an external mouse.

I’ve been a bit slow on posting reviews of the last couple of Asus Eee PC 1005HA PU17 BU, but it’s time to catch up. Overall, the Asus Eee PC 1005HA PU17 BU was great, and I have no problem recommending Asus Eee PC 1005HA PU17 BU for anyone wanting one.
I LOVE THIS Asus Eee PC 1005HA PU17 BU
Help answer the question about Asus Eee PC 1005HA PU17 BU Should I wait or buy a new Netbook now?
Hi, I am currently a high school student that needs a netbook to type up my homework at school.
I have been looking at the ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005HA-PU17-BU 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 10.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter) ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P3KMXK/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk ) . But I then read an article here :
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/08/intel-atom-n470-1-83ghz-cpu-coming-to-netbooks-early-next-year/2
Talking Asus Eee PC 1005HA PU17 BU about a new processor that has more power, better graphics and less power consumption. In fact, its processing power, 1.83Ghz currently matches my 3 year old HP 15" laptop I'm using!!! Right now it is at a good low price and it has the perfect battery life I need right now. But if I wait, I can get better processing power along with wnhanced graphics. Is it worth it to wait or should I give in to the temptation to buy it now?
For the people suggesting me to get a laptop. I have considered this, but I am trying to save money. I am saving up for a great laptop that I already have in mind, but I am willing to spend some of these savings on an ultra portable netbook that I can carry around easily.
Please answer the question and avoid giving answers such as "get a laptop instead"

I had to buy several items just to realize that Asus UL50Ag A3B was the best choice for the price all along. The only negatives I’ve found were that there are better units available, but they are more expensive and the reviews I found on them were on the negative side. So here’s my final word. I 100% endorse Asus UL50Ag A3B and will even show you some places to get it even cheaper than retail.

After doing a good amount of research, I found this laptop to be a good overall product for a reasonable price.
The processor speed, memory capacity and functionality makes it great for students and those who are fairly mobile. The hardware is of good quality and I have recently noticed ASUS has been rated at the top of the market for their PCs/laptops.
Though I hate to spend money, I also like to have tools that to the job without hassles. So, I usually bet on getting a new laptop every 3-4 years due to changes in technology and software and I think this model will be more than sufficient.
Don’t just trust me, do your own research, compare, talk to people who know computers well, consider what you are looking for and give this laptop a chance. I think you will find it to be hard to beat if you want a good laptop for a reasonable price.
Help answer the question about Asus UL50VT-A1 Are there any differences between the UL80Vt-A1 and ASUS UL50VT-A1 besides screen size?
I want to buy one of these two laptops, and I am thinking I'd like to go with the Asus UL50VT-A1 one with the 15.6 inch screen rather than the 14 inch one, but is there any difference in these two models besides screen size? I've googled it, and it seems to me there isn't, but I just want to make sure, because it seems suspicious to me that the larger and smaller models would be the same price, if all other things were equal.
